Technical Writer

ABOUT THE JOB:

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer with a strong background in the oil & gas industry to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience preparing and maintaining technical documents such as engineering specifications, datasheets, and standards for a large energy company. This role requires the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Collaborate with technical staff and project stakeholders to collect and verify information.

• Translate complex technical data into clear, accurate, and accessible documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Ensure all documentation complies with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

• Maintain version control, document libraries, and content management systems.

• Review and update existing documentation to reflect changes in processes, technology, or regulations.

• Proofread and edit content to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and proper formatting.

• Support knowledge sharing by providing documentation that improves user understanding and operational efficiency.

• Quickly learns and adopts technology, tools, and processes in a fast-paced environment.

• Works with limited or no supervision to pursue established goals and resolve issues as they arise.

YOU HAVE:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Minimum 7 – 10 years of proven experience in writing engineering specifications and standards within oil & gas industry.

• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.

• Strong ability to interpret and simplify complex technical information.

• Proficiency with documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, etc.).

• Familiarity with content management systems and version control practices.

• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.

• Knowledge of industry standards, style guides, and regulatory requirements is an asset.

• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

• Eligible to work in Canada.

• Hold a class 5 drivers license.
