We are recruiting for the following position(s):
Automation Engineers (Junior to Senior)
ABOUT THE JOB:
We are looking for Automation Engineers at the Junior, Intermediate, and Senior levels to join our growing Automation team.
In this role, you'll develop automation and industrial control system solutions from field instrumentation and sensors through to PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS systems. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, program, test, commission, and troubleshoot automation solutions across a variety of industrial applications.
Depending on your experience, you'll contribute to projects with increasing levels of responsibility. Junior Engineers will work alongside experienced mentors to build their technical expertise, Intermediate Engineers will independently deliver project components and support commissioning activities, and Senior Engineers will provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and oversee complex automation projects from concept through startup.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
o Design, develop, program, test, and troubleshoot industrial automation and control systems.
o Develop PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS, and RTU applications for a variety of industrial processes.
o Design and configure industrial control systems, including instrumentation, networking, and communication protocols.
o Collaborate with engineers, designers, project managers, and clients to develop practical automation solutions.
o Develop and review control narratives, functional specifications, I/O lists, cause and effect matrices, shutdown keys, and other technical documentation.
o Participate in the design and review of electrical and controls drawing packages.
o Select control system hardware and prepare bills of materials for assigned projects.
o Perform factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
o Provide technical support for system upgrades, maintenance, and operational improvements.
o Travel to client sites to support installations, commissioning, and field service activities.
o Ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable codes, standards, client specifications, and Tarco quality expectations.
o Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients while providing professional technical support.
Senior Engineers will also:
o Lead the technical execution of automation projects from concept through commissioning.
o Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior and intermediate team members.
o Review and approve engineering deliverables for technical accuracy and quality.
o Assist with project planning, scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and cost estimates.
o Support proposal development, client presentations, and technical discussions.
o Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, standards, and automation solutions.
o Act as the technical lead during commissioning, startup, and complex troubleshooting activities.
o Foster knowledge sharing and contribute to the continuous development of the Automation team.
YOU HAVE:
Junior Automation Engineer
o Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Software, Mechatronics, or a related Engineering discipline.
o 0–3 years of industrial automation experience.
o Exposure to PLC, HMI, SCADA, or DCS systems through school, co-op, or industry.
o EIT registration or eligibility with APEGA is considered an asset.
Intermediate Automation Engineer
o Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
o 3–7 years of industrial automation experience.
o Experience designing, programming, and commissioning industrial control systems.
o Ability to independently execute automation projects and troubleshoot complex control systems.
o Registered or eligible for registration with APEGA.
Senior Automation Engineer
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
o 7+ years of industrial automation experience.
o Proven experience leading automation projects from design through commissioning.
o Strong technical leadership and mentoring experience.
o Experience developing project estimates, proposals, schedules, and technical documentation.
o Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility is preferred
