About the job:
The Discipline Lead – Mechanical is responsible for all Mechanical team members and is responsible for maintaining and developing engineering standards and procedures, Quality Programs and strategic initiatives and project execution to help build strong client relationships, drive increased productivity, revenue, and brand reputation. In collaboration with the Engineering Manager and Tarco Senior Leadership Team, the Discipline Lead – Mechanical may be accountable for developing operational budgets and ensuring budget targets are met through effective, efficient processes and utilization of resources (People, Equipment and Facility).
This position will be focused on managing the technical team and the management of the technical standards tools and best practices, while aligning with the Tarco Organizational Goals, Objectives, and Strategies. This role will be critical in helping to set tone, culture, and acceptance within the group; as well as achieving success, for the assigned unit, in areas of Technical Project Execution, Deliverable Quality, Efficiency, Customer Focus, Employee Engagement, Team Performance, Profitability and Organic Growth.
What you’ll do:
- Experience with on-site commissioning and startup.
- Good understanding of consulting, business development (with regards to proposal and estimate generation or contribution), client BD and sub-contractor communications.
- Strong technical trouble shooting skills.
- Technical proposal development.
- Advanced technical troubleshooting skills.
- Creation of technical documentation (Cause and effect, programming narratives, test procedures, user manuals, installation/commissioning manuals, etc.)
- LDAR vent valve replacements
- Glycol system replacements
- Utility gas meter replacements
- Experience with specialized HYSYS flow ad pressure modeling software
You are:
- Demonstrated success in a customer-facing operations management role.
- 7-10 years of engineering and management experience leading the efforts of a multi-disciplinary engineering group, or a combination of education and/or management experience.
- Previous experience in small to medium EPC.
- Previous consulting experience in the western Canadian energy sector within a related technical field.
- Experience with Gas Turbines, Pumps and Compressors and related auxiliary systems.
- Practical experience participating in or leading HAZOP, Risk Analysis, Incident investigations.
- Presentation and training course development and delivery.
- Technical proposal development.
- Preference will be given to Professionally Designated Engineers and/or Technicians, with a strong people and customer focus and direct industry experience.
- Excellent English; written and verbal communication skills
